● Save a copy of the video you’re fact-checking, with a tool called Video Vault.
● Do a reverse image search of screenshots of the video or search for keywords describing the event. Compare versions of the video from trusted sources to the video you’re trying to verify.
● Check whether the video’s playback speed has been manipulated. You can use free online tools like Kapwing to slow down or speed up the video until the audio sounds “normal” then compare.
● Look for “jumps” in the video or clumsy transitions where something has been added or deleted. You can do this by moving through single frames of the video.
