A TikTok video posted on Facebook in August 2022 claims that Kenyan president Uhuru Kenyatta has called out leaders who want to get into power by any means possible, including unconstitutionally.
In the video, Uhuru says mainly in Kiswahili: “Umesema ata wakenya wakirudi kwa debe kuamua wewe bado ukitaka utaweza kupindua Kenya … mimi nimeskia maajabu jameni things I cannot believe I can hear in a democratic nation. Mambo yale yote wakenya walikataa wakati walijipatia katiba mpya wengine sasa wamejipatia mamlaka ya kutisha wenzao ata mkienda kuamua tena mkirudi bado nitamua vile nitataka …Wenzangu yaani sisi sote hatuna haja.”
This translates as: “You’ve said even if Kenyans go back to the ballot, you can change the decision they make if you wish … I have heard shocking things I cannot believe I could hear in a democratic nation.
